The Lord God sees everything, hears everything, and knows everything. “Walk before Me and be blameless,” the Lord said to Abram. Abram learned that when God speaks, he must listen. God looked ahead and reaffirmed His promise: He would make Abram into a great nation and bless him with a son through his own wife, Sarai—whom he was to name Isaac.
